iMessage: your own Apple ID, from your Mac
DMWire connects iMessage through a Mac that is signed in to Messages with your Apple ID. Your agent reads and answers your iMessages, and the people you talk to see a normal blue bubble iMessage from you.
What you need
- A Mac (a laptop or a desktop) signed in to Messages with the Apple ID you want to use.
- The Mac stays on and online. If it sleeps, shuts down or loses its internet connection, messages wait until it is back.
- A small Mac app on that Mac. It connects the Mac to DMWire.
How messages flow
Incoming. Someone sends an iMessage to your Apple ID. Messages on your Mac receives it as usual, the Mac app passes it to DMWire, and your agent gets it like a message on any other channel.
Outgoing. Your agent sends a reply. The Mac app has Messages on your Mac send it, and the recipient sees a normal blue bubble iMessage from your Apple ID.
What works
- Text, images, files and voice notes, in both directions.
- Delivered and read status on your messages, when the recipient shares it.
- Reactions (tapbacks), shown on the message they were added to.
- More than one line: one per Mac and Apple ID.
What is not supported
- Group chats. iMessage works for one to one conversations.
When the Mac is off
Messages sent to you while the Mac is off or offline wait and arrive once it is back online. A message your agent sends while the Mac is offline fails with a clear reason instead of showing as sent, so you always know it did not go out.
Keeping your Apple ID safe
Apple flags accounts that behave like bulk senders. Use iMessage for the people who write to you and for one to one replies, not for messages to many strangers. DMWire's daily limits and safety checks are on Limits and account safety.
