Connect Codex to WhatsApp and Telegram
Codex reads MCP servers from ~/.codex/config.toml. One command writes the entry for you.
Add DMWire
Terminal
codex mcp add dmwire --url https://mcp.dmwire.ai/mcp --bearer-token-env-var DMWIRE_API_KEYReal output
Added global MCP server 'dmwire'.
Name Url Bearer Token Env Var Status Auth
dmwire https://mcp.dmwire.ai/mcp DMWIRE_API_KEY enabled Bearer tokenThe command writes this to ~/.codex/config.toml:
~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.dmwire]
url = "https://mcp.dmwire.ai/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "DMWIRE_API_KEY"Codex sends the value of DMWIRE_API_KEY as Authorization: Bearer <key>, which DMWire accepts. Set the variable where Codex runs:
Terminal
export DMWIRE_API_KEY="paste your dmw_live_ key here"The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the desktop app share this config, so you set it up once (Codex MCP docs).
Prefer the X-API-Key header?
~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.dmwire]
url = "https://mcp.dmwire.ai/mcp"
env_http_headers = { "X-API-Key" = "DMWIRE_API_KEY" }First prompt
